Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center
For more than half a century, the Hannah Block Historic USO Building has facilitated the coming together of generations, providing children with programs that challenge them creatively, and enhance the quality of life for residents throughout the region.
Located in historic downtown Wilmington, NC, this multi-use facility features six studios (including dance studios) that are available to nonprofit organizations for rehearsals of plays, musicals and recitals. The facility is also available for event space rental. Private or corporate functions like weddings, public art shows and corporate gatherings can find information about our rates here.
The Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center in Wilmington, NC is truly a multi-use facility. Five studios are available to nonprofit organizations for theatrical rehearsals, musicals, recitals and classes. We also have a kitchen, making our space ideal for weddings and receptions. The studios arealso used for classes in a variety of artistic disciplines. The building is home to the Orange Street Potters and the Hannah Block Second Street Stage, an auditorium with a stage and a technical loft for rehearsals and performances.
We provide classroom space for music, art, theater, dance and more for children, teens and adults. If you’re interested in teaching or starting other types of artistic endeavors at the Community Arts Center you will find that our rates here at the Center are very reasonable!
The HBHUSO/CAC is owned by the City of Wilmington and managed by the Thalian Association Community Theatre. The City Council appoints a seven person volunteer Advisory Board to oversee the building activities and make recommendations to the management and the City of Wilmington. The current Advisory Board chairman is Cathey Luna.
